DESCRIPTION: Accounting Manager: Hands-On Assistant Controller 

Capitol Petroleum Group (CPG) is a privately-held management group that is majority owned by entrepreneur, Mr. Joe Mamo.  CPG manages the distribution of petroleum products and services in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. region for approximately one hundred and sixty-four (164) retail sites own by Mr. Mamo’s affiliated companies.  In 2010, these locations are projected to generate approximately $750 million in revenue and $45.7 million in EBITDA.  

Job Overview

The Accounting Manager serves as the company’s assistant controller and is responsible for managing the daily accounting functions for the company and its related entities.  The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Accounting and IT.  

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all transactions entered into the company’s back office management software (Factor®), generating management and financial reports, complying with audit and internal control procedures, preparing monthly journal entries, performing monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, administering the month end and year end close procedures for preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, coordinating the annual audit process with external auditors, maintaining the integrity of the accounting system and correction of data as needed, to ensure that the accounting function is properly administered in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).    

The successful candidate will have strong problem solving, analytic, technical accounting and interpersonal skills. He/she will need to manage several projects simultaneously with the ability to be detail oriented and hands-on; strong communication skills a must. A bachelor’s degree in accounting combined with 4-6 years of accounting experience working on monthly closings, cash reporting, bank reconciliations, general ledger analysis, journal entries and statement consolidation is required; a CPA is preferred.  Must be highly proficient with Excel, have a customer service orientation, and be deadline-driven. 

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $85,000 plus bonus based on experience.  A generous benefits package is included.
