We are looking for an experienced Biomethane Sales Trader to help grow CFP Energy's activity across the biomethane markets.

You will also structure and price bilateral transactions, working directly with utilities, industrial customers, fuel suppliers and other market participants.
A key focus will be building and managing a customer book, developing new relationships and delivering revenue and margin targets. You will monitor market fundamentals, pricing, liquidity and regulatory developments to identify trading and sales opportunities, while managing risk within defined limits.
The role combines trading, commercial origination, client relationship management and market analysis, with the opportunity to play a key role in developing CFP Energy's biomethane business across European markets.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Management or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years' experience in energy or commodity trading, ideally across gas, power, LNG or environmental certificates.
- Direct experience in trading biomethane, biogas and/or Guarantees of Origin (GoOs).
- Experience managing a trading book or sales portfolio with P&L accountability.
- Strong knowledge of biomethane market fundamentals, including supply and demand drivers and pricing benchmarks.
- Knowledge of certification and registry mechanisms, including ISCC, REDcert, national biomethane registries and GoO transfer processes.
- Knowledge of RED II/III compliance and its impact on certificate value.
- Understanding of grid injection, mass balance and book-and-claim accounting.
- Experience with or knowledge of derivatives and hedging instruments relevant to gas and environmental commodities.
- Ability to make fast, well-informed decisions under time pressure and in volatile market conditions.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with traders, brokers and clients.
- Strong discipline and integrity, with a clear understanding of compliance and market conduct requirements.
Desired, but not required experience:
- Existing customer/counterparty network in biomethane or adjacent gas markets.
- CFA, energy trading certifications, or similar a plus.
- Experience across multiple European or North American markets.
- Familiarity with EU ETS, RTFO, LCFS, or similar regulatory-linked demand drivers.
- Multilingual capability for cross-border trading desks.
