The Role
We're seeking a Senior Tax Advisor, Wealth Management to join our growing wealth management practice and serve as a key member of our tax planning team. This is not a tax preparation role. Instead, you'll focus on identifying strategic planning opportunities, solving complex tax challenges, and partnering with advisors to deliver sophisticated advice to high-net-worth clients. You'll collaborate closely with wealth advisors, clients, CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to develop and implement tax efficient strategies that support clients' broader financial goals. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to an established tax planning function, and help further enhance the value we deliver to clients.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the firm's primary internal tax resource for advisors and staff
- Analyze individual, business, and trust tax returns to uncover planning opportunities and potential tax savings
- Design proactive tax strategies that align with clients' financial plans, investment portfolios, and long-term objectives
- Partner with advisors in preparing for and participating in client meetings to explain tax strategies and recommendations
- Coordinate with clients' CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure seamless execution of planning initiatives
- Research complex federal and state tax topics and communicate relevant legislative updates to the team
- Prepare tax projections, estimated tax analyses, and other planning-related calculations
- Develop scalable processes, tools, templates, and resources that enhance the firm's tax planning capabilities
- Deliver internal training and educational sessions to strengthen advisor tax knowledge
- Help shape the future of tax planning within a rapidly growing wealth management practice
Planning Areas You'll Influence
You'll help clients navigate a wide range of sophisticated planning opportunities, including:
- Roth conversion strategies
- Capital gain and tax-loss planning
- Charitable giving strategies and donor-advised funds
- Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
- Business entity and ownership structure planning
- Retirement income and distribution strategies
- Equity compensation planning, including RSUs and stock options
- Estate and trust tax planning coordination
- Tax-efficient portfolio withdrawal strategies
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- CPA designation strongly preferred (EA considered)
- 5+ years of tax experience, ideally involving individual and closely held business returns
- High-net-worth tax planning experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients and professional partners
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
